yo, usopp is badass when he needs to be, he has loads of pride and his ambition it good, he only taps into it when he needs to. Think of the enies lobby saga going on the train to save nico robin against really powerful enemies or his 'fight' vs the wolf, he got totally whupped but that didn't stop him from trying.
